At age 42, Harka Maya learned how to read and write in a World Education women’s literacy class in Nepal. She is determined to help other women like her. World Education helped Harka Maya develop skills to transform her women’s savings group into an organization that fights trafficking and child labor in Nepal.

Today, 20 years later, Harka Maya is the deputy mayor in her community.
